What Sets Multipure Apart

Although most companies that sell drinking water systems make devices that can remove chlorine from water, very few of those companies offer drinking water treatment systems that are NSF certified to reduce contaminants under both NSF/ANSI Standard No. 42 (Aesthetics) and NSF/ANSI Standard No. 53 (Health Effects). Multipure is one of the few companies whose products are NSF certified to reduce such a wide array of drinking water contaminants, including such classes as disinfection byproducts or gasoline additives – contaminants that can get into water sources through pollution or leaks.

Multipure is the industry leader because it is a pioneer in drinking water treatment, and it possesses the integrity and credibility due to intensive internal quality assurance confirmed by the rigorous scrutiny of NSF Certification.

GNC to pay $2.25 million over sale of illegal dietary supplements

GNC to pay $2.25 million over sale of illegal dietary supplements

More than 50 years ago I started getting interested in nutrition and GNC (General Nutrition Company/Corporation) was one of the first big stores in the malls in Indianapolis. I browsed the store aisles, studied the bottles, and bought some of the products.

A lot has happened since then. And my maturation regarding what products are reliable and what are not has advanced exponentially. As a clinician, I only want patients (and myself and family) to use products that are safe and effective. Thus, I am selective about what I prescribe and recommend. The manufacturers have to meet strict standards.

The article about GNC just came to my attention. I suggest that you read it because it represents the tip of the iceberg.

When it comes to medications, sometimes a generic will do but other times the original product works better. And there are many deaths per year attributed to taking the wrong medication even when prescribed by your doctor. Mixing the wrong medications is lethal. Mixing the wrong supplements can also have negative consequences.

So, when it comes to natural supplements, you really have to know what you are buying. When I was young there were no personal computers or the internet. You had to read alot to really figure out what might be helpful.

Now, with the internet, everyone thinks that they are an expert. Just because the internet is there doesn’t mean the information is “advice.” There is a lot of hype and false news to convince you to buy.

Not only that, not all supplements are created equal. Not all of the ingredients are good for your body. Toxicants and ineffective doses are rampant.

Quality costs money. Testing costs money. Rejecting ingredients that don’t meet standards costs money. You want to do price comparison shopping to save a little money. But, just because something is cheap doesn’t mean that it is quality, tested, or meeting high standards. More than likely it means the opposite.

Buying your products online from just any online vendor is not really so smart. You can buy cheap gas and it might not kill your car immediately but in the long run it might shorten the life of it. Same thing with your supplements.

Call us to set up an appointment to make sure that what you are putting into your body is good for you. 510-849-1176

Lead in Water — Still a danger

Lead in water? Still a danger in the U.S.

You might think that your water is safe. Well, as we have been saying for the past 30 years, you have to filter your lead in waterwater at the tap, preferably with a Multipure filter (order one at www.multipureusa.com/redwoodclinic). That is because there is lots of stuff in your water that is not good for your health. That includes heavy metals such as lead. It can come from solder. It can come from medications. It can come from industrial sources. It can come from airborne lead that falls into the water treatment plants.

The reality of lead in water came home to roost in Flint, Michigan. According to an alert from MOVE-ON, this is the story.

“In April 2014, state officials switched the source of Flint’s drinking water to the Flint River to save money.

Almost immediately after the switch, residents noticed changes in the smell, color, and taste of the water coming out of their taps. Tests showed high levels of bacteria that forced the city to issue advisories calling for residents to boil their tap water.2

Michigan Gov. Snyder and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality were aware of the high levels of lead in Flint’s drinking water for months, but they kept telling residents that the water was safe to drink.3  Lead poisoning is incredibly serious, especially to children, causing lower IQs, long-term learning disabilities, and behavioral problems.4

Last October, Flint’s drinking water source was finally switched back to the same source as Detroit. But Flint’s pipes are now permanently damaged and continue to leach lead into Flint’s drinking water.

Only when the U.S. Department of Justice opened an investigation into how Michigan has handled the crisis in Flint did Gov. Snyder finally issue a state of emergency.”

If it can happen in Flint, it can happen anywhere. Even in your town. And the only control you have is at your tap.
And lead is just the tip of the iceberg.

If you know of someone in Flint please have them read this post and have, or help them, buy a Multipure water filtration system.
